Castigating Governor RN Ravi for walking out of the Assembly without reading the customary ‘Governor’s Address’ at the beginning of the first session of the year, Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday charged him with habitually transgressing the tradition of the legislature.
The Governor’s action is ‘childish’ and unbecoming of the high office he holds, the Chief Minister said in a post on his ‘X’ handle. “When he is not interested in carrying out his Constitutional duties, why should he cling to the post is the question before everyone,” he added.

“As per the Constitution, reading out the Government Address is a tradition of legislative democracy. Habitually, he is transgressing it. In the past, he had read them by guillotining some portions and adding some of his own. But, this time, he had left without reading it, which is childish,” said the post. “Insulting the people of Tamil Nadu and the government elected by them as well as the legislature with a century-old legacy, is unbecoming of the office he holds,” it said further.
The allies of the DMK have pounced on the Governor for his disrespectful act. “Functioning like a representative of a political party, he is creating hurdles for the government elected by the people,” said Vaiko, MP, General Secretary of the Marumalarchi DMK (MDMK). Taking exception to the Governor’s conduct, the CPI(M) accused him of attempting to run a parallel government.
The PMK, a constituent of the BJP-Led NDA, said the Governor should understand the sentiments of the people of Tamil Nadu. PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss, MP, also asked the government to accord due respect to the incumbent of the Raj Bhavan.
